Cambridge University's "Roll of Honor."

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Cambridge University Magazine, of Cambridge, England, publishes each week a list of the university students killed in battle. This list is also posted on the main door of Great St. Mary's Church. It is called "The Roll of Honour," and at the head of the list are always printed the following words, taken from an address by the vice chancellor:

"Many and diverse were the hopes and expectations we had formed for them, but every one of these has been surpassed by the event. They have all been found capable of making the greatest denial of self that men can make; they paid away their own life that the life of their fellows might be happy. To put into words the reverence that we owe to the young who have worked and suffered and died for us is beyond our powers."
