Reliable Cover-Point of Two Seasons Was Elected by Hockey Team.

William Channing Appleton, Jr. '17, of Cohasset, was elected captain of the second University hockey team at a meeting held yesterday. Appleton has been a fast and reliable player at cover-point for the past two seasons.

Picked Teams Played Yesterday.

A practice game between two picked teams was played in the Stadium rink yesterday. Team A defeated team B, 2 to 0. W. W. Rice '18 and G. H. Kissel '17 shot the goals. Rice and Folsom stared for team A, while Timpson showed the best form on team B.

The line-ups were as follows:

Team A.--g., Talcott; P., Duncan; c.p., Appleton; l.w., Folsom; l.c., Rice; r.c., Patterson; r.w., Kissel.

Team B.--g., Liggett; p., Ginn; c.p., Wagner; r.w., Powell; r.c., Scott; l.c., Dunmore; l.w., Timpson.

The schedule for the second team has been arranged as follows:

January 22.--Winchester Hockey Club.

January 24.--Middlesex at Concord.

February 2.--Andover at Andover.

February 4.--Stone's School.

February 7.--St. Mark's at Southboro.

February 19.--St. Paul's at Concord.
