"HARVARD INDIFFERENCE."

"Harvard Indifference" had another manifestation last Saturday when the University baseball team defeated Princeton 3 to 0 without the aid of a single organized cheer. Princeton, two weeks ago, had a cheering section of 5,000 strong with three leaders, and this despite the fact that the game with the University was postponed from Saturday until Tuesday.

Last week the team came through in championship form, taking a game from Brown and clinching the Princeton series with a second victory over that aggregation. This is more commendable as the nine has had several severe set-backs to contend with. Captain Ayres was taken sick and has not played all spring. Coach Sexton resigned in the middle of the season. Fripp, who was holding down third base got scarlet fever. Haughton took command as coach and Hardwick was made captain and to their efforts the team's success is due. Their efforts deserve all the backing which can be given them.

But who is to blame for this apparent indifference? The undergraduates have been willing and eager to cheer but there has been no one to lead them. Probably the person whose duty it is to appoint cheer leaders has been ignorant or forgetful of his office. Let Captain Hardwick appoint leaders and the team will soon realize how extensive is its student backing.
