The University came back in the fifth and made one run through Abbot's double and Coolidge's single, but the real rally was postponed until the ninth. Aside from the closeness of the score and the nerve-racking postponement of victory, the game was an extremely spectacular and intense affair. Reilly and Hunter, of Yale, contributed to the features with marvelous catches. In the second inning, with two down and the bases clogged with University players Abbot slammed a liner toward left field which looked good for two runs, but Reilly made a great leap in the air and stopped it with one hand, retiring the side. Hunter distinguished himself by his game tries for foul balls. He caught one near the third base bleachers after banging into the fence. Abbot and Reed did great work on the force-out play, while Brickley featured the hitting by getting three safeties out of four trips to the plate, making his average for the two games 857.
