The prospects of a strong cross-country team for next year are good. Coach Shrubb, English long-distance champion, has made a definite statement that he will again take charge of the University runners next fall. There will probably be a change in training the men next year, in that it is planned to have more meets for the runners than last year. The 1914 team was second in the intercollegiate standing, having lost to Cornell by a large margin.
The team next fall will have three veterans back who should make a good combination with the fast men of this year's Freshman team. The veterans who return are captain R. T. Twitchell '17, R. H. Davison '17, and K. E. Fuller '16. There are three other men who were retained on the squad throughout the season and who will be good material for the 1915 team. These men are W. E. Edgar '16, R. Bancroft '17, and R. S. Cook '17. Another promising additon to the squad will be W. W. Kent '16 who was unable to be out last year.
Of the Freshmen who ran last year L. K. Moorehead '18 is a fast man and is sure to make a good bid for a regular place on the team. The following three Freshmen all received numerals: C. W. W. P. Heffenger '18, J. Coggeshall '18, and H. D. Carpenter '18. It is very probable that the 1915 cross-country team will be largely made up of these 11 men.
