The opening round of the tournament for the University golf championship was played at the Oakley Country Club yesterday afternoon. The outcome of yesterday's matches are as follows: E. P. Allis '15 defeated J. I. Wylde '17, 2-1; P. Winsor '15 defeated S. P. Griffitts '15, 5-3; L. H. Canan '17 defeated C. W. Timpson '18, 6-5; J. W. Hubbell '17 defeated F. I. Amory '17, 4-2; G. C. Caner '17 defeated R. W. Hoskier '18, 2-1; G. A. McCook '16 defeated W. P. Hunt '16, 2 up. H. D. Bassett '18 defeated W. H. Russell '18, 2 up; W. F. Enright '16 defeated L. M. Lombard '17, 1 up.
The matches scheduled for this afternoon--are as follows: E. P. Allis '15 vs. G. A. McCook '16, G. C. Caner '17 vs. L. H. Canan '17, H. D. Bassett '18 vs. J. W. Hubbell '17 and P. Winsor '15 vs. W. F. Enright '16. These matches must be played off some time this afternoon.
