In the first game of the northern division of the Intercollegiate Lacrosse League Saturday, the University team defeated Stevens Institute 13 to 1. The game, though one-sided, was fast throughout. Fleming, at inside home, played brilliantly, scoring four goals. Captain Nightingale, Lucas, and Persons also put up a good game for the University. Edwards, at goal, and Captain Hill did the best work for the visitors. Persons received a bad cut over the eye in the second half, and was forced to leave the game.
The summary follows:
Score--Harvard 13, Stevens 1. Goals--Nightingale 2, Persons, Fleming 4, Franzer 2, Lucas, Wanamaker 2, O'Neil, Taylor. Referee--H. M. Osgood, Cornell. Goal umpires--Johnson (H.), Humphries (S.). Timers--Garland (H.), Beck (S.). Time--35-minute halves.
