LECTURE ON MILITARY CAMPS

Major-general Leonard Wood, LL.D. '99, of the United States Army, adjutant-general C. H. Cole, also of the United States Army, and President Lowell will speak at a military camp meeting in the Living Room of the Union on Friday evening at 8 o'clock. The object of the meeting is to stimulate interest in summer military camps.

Major-general Wood, one of the most prominent figures in military circles, received the degree of M.D. from the University in 1884 and in 1889 the degree of LL.D. In 1886 he became an assistant surgeon in the United States Army, and began his brilliant career as a military leader. In 1899 he was appointed brigadier-general of the United States Army and in the same year was made military governor of Cuba. Four years later he was promoted to his present rank of major-general. Additional honor was shown him when, in 1910, he was made chief of staff, and again in 1914 when he was placed in complete charge of the Department of the East. Adjutant-general Cole who will also address the meeting is likewise an important figure in military affairs.
