The second University crew which will enter the American Hnley this afternoon is not rated as high as the exceptional second crew of last season which defeated all opponents at the Henley distance. There have been numerous shifts within the last two weeks, including the seating of F. W. Busk '16-at stroke in place of R. R. Brown '17, who occupied that position in the Freshman boat last year. E. W. Soucy '16, who has been rowing at number 5, was put out of the rowing by illness, and his place will be taken by J. Talcott '16, moving up from number 3. A. Potter '17 will take the latter position.
The present order is as follows:
Stroke, Busk; 7, Meyer; 6, Middendorf; 5, Talcott; 4, Culbert; 3, Potter; 2, Brown; bow, Whitmarsh; cox., Cameron.
Sophomore Crew Appears Strong.
The Sophomore champion class crew, which defeated the Yale sophomore eight on the Charles last week, will be the fourth Harvard crew to race today.
One change has been made to fill the vacancy left when Potter was shifted to the second University.
The present order: Stroke, White; 7, Darling; 6, Lovell; 5, Richardson; 4, Coolidge; 3, Webber; 2, Phillips; bow, Ingalls; cox., Henderson.
The prospects for both second and class crews are not as bright, as last year. In fact, the Sophomore crew has beaten the second and appears to be the better balanced of the two. Practice will be held for both crews this morning, and the race will start this afternoon at 5 o'clock. This is the first time that a class crew has attained a standard which warranted their entrance in the American Henley, and the champions are expected to make a good showing in this regatta.
