FRESHMAN NINE FINALLY BEATEN

Huntington School Won on Saturday When 1918 Team Weakened.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Freshman baseball team received the first defeat of their season at the hands of the Huntington schoolboys on Saturday afternoon by the score of 9 to 3. C. L. Harrison '18 allowed all nine runs to be made off him, pitching the first four innings. The Huntington lads seemed to find no difficulty in knocking him all over the field and scampering around the bases with great freedom. When Harrison did manage to keep his opponents from safe hitting his support usually went up in the air. In these four fateful innings only one Huntington man fanned the air for a strike-out. R. Hitchcock '18 who finished the game in the box retired eight men and allowed not a run. His pitching was consistently good and he kept his opponents puzzled to the end. Ziegler, the Huntington twirler, did well throughout the game, showing particularly good form in tight places. In one case, with the sacks full and not a man out he fanned three in succession. The Freshmen's only real rally was in the fourth when they managed to get three men to cross the plate in safety.

The score by innings follows:   1  2  3  4  5  6  7  8  9--R  H  E Freshmen,  0  0  0  3  0  0  0  0  0--3  8  5 Huntington,  2  3  1  3  0  0  0  0  0--9  9  3
