EIGHT STRAIGHT FOR TENNIS MEN

University Defeated Dartmouth 9 to 0.--Seconds Won But 1918 Lost.

The University tennis team maintained its clean record of victories by defeating Dartmouth 9 to 0 in a six-man match held on the Jarvis Field courts Saturday. The University players were not obliged to extend themselves to win any of the matches, though the victory of J. S. Brown, Jr., '17 over R. B. Livermore was hard-fought in the first set. The summary follows:

Singles.--Captain R. N. Williams, 2d, '16 defeated Captain T. C. Pray (D.), 6-1, 6-1; G. C. Caner '17 defeated K. W. Koeniger (D.), 6-1, 6-2; W. Rand, 3d, '17 defeated P. J. Larmon (D.), 6-2, 6-3; L. Curtis, 2d, '16 defeated F. W. Stone (D.), 6-8, 6-4, 6-3; W. W. Mansfield '15 defeated W. B. Osborne (D.), 6-4, 6-3; J. S. Brown, Jr., '17 defeated R. B. Livermore (D.), 10-8, 6-4.

Doubles.--R. N. Williams 2d, '16 and G. C. Caner '17 defeated Pray and Koeniger, 6-2, 6-2; W. Rand 3d, '17 and L. Curtis 2d, '16 defeated Larmon and Livermore, 6-3, 8-6; W. W. Mansfield '15 and J. S. Brown, Jr., '17 defeated Stone and Osborne, 6-3, 6-2.

Seconds Defeated Conn. Aggies.

The University second team followed the example of the first team, and even went them one better by defeating the Connecticut Agricultural College, 6 to 0 in straight sets on Jarvis Field Saturday afternoon. This is the second victory of the season for the seconds, who also have a clean record. The summary:

Singles.--Captain J. Wooldredge '16 defeated R. I. Henry (C.), 6-0, 6-1;--A. F. Doty '16 defeated D. G. Weipert (C.), 6-1, 6-0; F. Boyer '16 defeated R. C. Ackerman (C.), 6-2, 6-3; R. Z. Crane '17 defeated W. T. Ackerman (C.), 6-3, 6-0.

Doubles.--J. Wooldredge '16 and A. F. Doty '16 defeated Henry and Weiper, 6-3, 6-0; F. Boyer '16 and R. Z. Crane '17 defeated Ackerman and Ackerman, 6-2, 6-1.

Freshmen Were Defeated.

The 1918 team opened its season with a defeat by the score of 6 to 3 at the hands of the Boston Y. M. C. A. team on Jarvis Field Saturday afternoon. The 1918 team was handicapped by the loss of Captain H. G. M. Kelleher.

The feature match was in the doubles when H. Talcott '18 and E. B. Benjamin '18 defeated W. Hugus 2L. and W. I. Badger 2L., representing B. Y. M. C. A., who won the doubles championship of the University last fall, by the score of 9-7, 1-6, 6-4. The complete summaries follow:

Doubles.--Collester and Taylor defeated Cook and Dunmore, 6-2, 6-4; Benedict and Green defeated Snow and White, 6-2, 8-6; Talcott and Benjamin defeated Hugus and Badger, 9-7, 1-6, 6-4.
