The University lacrosse team won two of the four games played on its annual southern trip. In the first game with the Crescent Athletic Club of Brooklyn, the skill and experience of the older men was more than a match for the better condition of the University players, although Harvard clearly outplayed its opponents in the second half. The score ended 4 to 2 in favor of the Crescents.
The University team defeated the Mount Washington Club of Baltimore 3 to 2 by superior strength in a fast, well-played contest. Brilliant individual playing featured the game with the Annapolis Naval Academy, which the University won, 2 to 1, in the last few minutes of play. The champion Johns Hopkins team defeated the University twelve, 8 to 1, in the last game of the trip.
For the University Captain Nightingale played a steady game, scoring most of the goals in the four games.
