CUP FOR ABLEST BALL PLAYER

Charles Hann, Jr., '11, first baseman on the University championship baseball nine of 1911 has again presented a silver loving cup to belong always to the member of this year's University nine who shows the greatest ability upon the baseball field. This cup which was first awarded in 1912 is known as the Barrett Wendell, Jr., trophy and is to be presented to the man who has the highest total number of points reckoned on the basis of the following achievements each counting one point:

1. Safe arrivals at first base (this includes bases on balls, hits, and all other times the initial sack is safely reached).

2. Sacrifice hits.

3. Stolen bases.

4. Runs scored.

It will be noticed that the cup is not necessarily to be awarded to the best hitter, the best fielder, or the fastest runner, but rather to the man who combines his hitting and running abilities to the best advantage of the team. Should any complications arise the cup will be awarded to the choice of the baseball committee, the coach, and the donor.
