SEASON OPENS FOR FIELDERS

Fielding candidates for the University baseball team will report to Dr. Sexton in the Cage dressed to play at 3.30 o'clock this afternoon. Battery candidates will report at 2 o'clock as usual.

Freshman battery candidates should report in the Cage dressed to play at 5 o'clock today. H. L. Nash '16 will have charge of these men for this week. Next week, when the 1918 fielding candidates are called out, H. E. Reeves '12 will take charge of the whole Freshman squad.

From now on the work in the Cage will consist of battery work, batting, and fielding. For batting practice the Cage will be divided into four alleys protected by netting. Each will have a pitcher, catcher, and batsman. The netting will be removed for fielding practice. If the present weather conditions continue, outdoor practice will begin in about two weeks. Captain R. R. Ayres '15, who is still at his home in Montclair, N. J., recovering from an operation, will join the University squad as soon as it leaves the Cage.
