MIDNIGHT BLAZE IN CLUBHOUSE

Fire in Hasty Pudding Theatre Caused $100 Loss.--Alarm Delayed.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

A fire was discovered in the Hasty Pudding Theatre shortly after midnight Saturday night. There was a delay of about ten minutes in turning in the alarm, because the key, which is kept at 68 Mt. Auburn street could not be located. The fire started on the outside of the building in a bundle of excelsior which was wrapped about a pipe to prevent freezing.

While attempts to ring in an alarm were being made, students ran into Claverly Hall and pulled the hose from that building out to the fire. The water was quickly turned on and five minutes later the firemen arrived. They soon extinguished the fire with chemicals. The speed with which the hose from Claverly Hall was put into action undoubtedly prevented a larger conflagration.

The fire burned only a small part of the outside of the club theatre. The damage did not exceed $100, which amount was fully covered by insurance.
