D. U. REVIVAL TAKES BOARDS

The first public performance of the Delta Upsilon revival, "The Beaux' Stratagem," will be given in Brattle Hall this evening at 8 o'clock. Tickets may be obtained at the door for $1.50 and $1.

This production is the eighteenth old English play that the Delta Upsilon has revived. "The Beaux' Stratagem," written in 1706, is the best of the plays that Farquhar has left us, and is one of the liveliest comedies of the whole Restoration drama. The scene is laid in the old Litchfield Inn, where two London gentlemen arrive one night in search of a fortune, the one disguised as a servant to the other. Aimwell, the master, goes to church, and promptly falls in love with a woman in the congregation. His friend, Archer, finding out that the woman has a fortune, approves, and very soon falls in love with her sister. By much amusing stratagy the two men meet the ladies and are later able to save them from a gang of thieves. The chief merits of the comedy are the quality of the humor and the cleverness and individuality of the characterization.
