Captain Charles B. Stoddard '62 who has just died in Plymouth was a veteran of the Civil War, and one of the most prominent citizens of Plymouth. He graduated from the College in 1862, and immediately upon his graduation enlisted in the forty-first Massachusetts regiment, in which he served in the department of the Gulf.
After the war he returned to Plymouth, where he went into banking. He later was elected president of the Plymouth National Bank, a position which he held till his death. He took much interest in municipal affairs, and served at different times on the board of selectmen and the school committee. At the time of his death he was treasurer of the Pilgrim Society and trustee of the Stickney fund:
