SMOKERS FOR SENIORS.

At last the interdormitory smoker has been revived; a committee has been appointed and the first smoker arranged for. The CRIMSON has always contended that these smokers are important factors in getting the men of a class to know each other.

A class in its Senior year "loosens up" socially. Opportunities for increasing one's acquaintance in the class which have been spurned or neglected in the first three years, are eagerly seized upon and made the most of, as, of course, they should be. The interdormitory smokers are such opportunities.

A Senior said recently: "I'm ashamed to stand out in front of Sever between classes and see the number of men in my own class with whom I haven't even a bowing acquaintance. I realize it is much more my fault than theirs. In the present Senior class there may be a President of the United States; there surely are men who will make big successes in life. I'd hate to have to confess that I spent four years in College without ever meeting, or indeed hearing of such men at all."

The man was not a snob. He did not want to know men so that in the future when they had made a success he could say, "Oh yes; I know him; he was in my class." He wanted to know men because of their worth; because their friendship might be an inspiration and help to him in College and out of it. But he only knows a limited circle--those in his club, a few who have lived near him and borrowed his books, a few men he has met casually during his four years. But most of his class is completely foreign to him. His case is typical. There are many like him. And it is their own fault. The interdormitory smokers will give them new opportunities to know their classmates.
