George R. Lunn, former Mayor of Schenectady, N. Y., will speak on "Socialism and Militarism" in Emerson D tonight at 8 o'clock. Mr. Lunn, whose term of service ended a year ago, was the first Socialist mayor in New York State. Through experience with the concrete problems of municipal administration, he has made considerable contributions to Socialist theory.
Mr. Lunn served in the Spanish War in the Third Nebraska Infantry and has since kept well in touch with the armament question in this country. He will discuss the conflict between opportunism and Socialist principle in the attitude toward militarism, advancing his own solution of the problem.
The meeting will be open to the University and will be followed by discussion.
