The cartoons and newspaper paragraphs of today will become material for the historian of tomorrow. Already the earlier "war posters" of England and France have acquired a remarkable interest, have achieved the dignity of historical evidence regarding the feeling at the outbreak of war; and one can imagine the vividness with which they will reconstruct the emotions behind the cataclysm for future generations.
Members of the University will have an opportunity at Copley Hall on Friday to see a collection of over two hundred war posters gathered by an expert after ten months' work abroad and arranged by Mrs. Fiske Warren. With the possible exception of the collections of the warring nations no other assortment can compare with this, either in variety or interest. Collectors from all over the country, including a representative from Yale, are coming to purchase at the sale. Cannot the University set aside a fund to form a Harvard collection of war posters, which should prove of interest and historical value for all time?
