The Bureau of Business Research of the Graduate School of Business Administration has published a pamphlet on "Expenses in Operating Retail Grocery Stores," which has proved a great success. Although more than 4,000 copies have been mailed to grocery retailers, wholesalers, trade associations and accountants, there is still a demand for them, and their value is attested by numerous appreciative letters which have been received.
The standards for this booklet were based on statistics from 250 retail grocers. At present the Bureau is gathering statistics from 500 retail shops as a basis from which to work out more complete standards.
The Bureau has also started a study of the wholesale grocery business, and is working out a system of accounts for wholesale shoe dealers. Wholesale dealers in New England and New York are co-operating with the Bureau's agent in this work.
