Harvard Still On Track To Reach Fossil Fuel-Neutral Status by 2026, Sustainability Report Finds
Four hundred volunteers for the proposed Harvard Battalion must be enlisted by Friday. If the delegates who are going to New York to interview General Wood on Saturday can report that this number has enrolled, the success of the battalion is assured, as General Wood will then endeavor to provide an officer for drill and equipment free of charge.
Considering that the four hundred men required to obtain subsidy from the Government are less than one-tenth of the enrollment of the University, it is only reasonable to expect that this number will not merely be attained before Friday at 6 o'clock, but doubled.
Each one of us has a task of patriotism to perform towards the country, but more than that, the spirit of the University, its patriotism or its indifference towards the welfare of the nation, will be determined by the number of men who are willing to render service. The reputation of Harvard, with respect to its willingness as a public servant, depends upon the amount of individual sacrifice its members are willing to make.
