A special service for Freshmen will be held in Appleton Chapel this evening at 7 o'clock. Professor E. C. Moore will conduct the service and President Lowell, Dean Briggs, and Dean Thayer will speak.
This service, a custom for many years, is of particular importance this year because of the problems which the new Freshman dormitories are presenting to the Chapel committee. On account of the remote situation of their dormitories, 1918 men do not seem to realize that they are an essential part of the University, and accordingly must support those interests which are maintained for the benefit of the entire University. Consequently the Freshman class has been decidedly backward in the matter of attendance.
This evening's service will last but 50 minutes and it is hoped that every member of 1918 will take advantage of this opportunity to hear President Lowell, Dean Briggs, and Dean Thayer talk on the immediate problems of the first year men.
