The Freshman Debating Society held its first meeting of the year last night in the Smith Halls Common Room. Six men, two from each dormitory, debated on "National Preparedness" and at the end of the debate the meeting was opened to any speaker. At the close of the meeting a vote of those present was taken resulting in 39 ballots for preparedness and nine against preparedness.

This season the society will meet on alternate Monday evenings. The meetings will be opened by formal debates speakers and subjects having been previously chosen and open forums will follow the close of each debate.
