By the overwhelming victory of 39 to 0, Smith Halls won the interdormitory football championship and possession of the Crosby Football Cup for one year by defeating the Standish eleven on Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon. The game was one-sided, due to the greater weight and better team-play of the Smith eleven. Superior generalship and better signals were important factors in the result.
The Smith team started with a rush, and by means of trick plays and line smashes soon scored a touchdown. Standish throughout most of the game was on the defensive. The Smith team completed several forward passes for good gains. Freeman, the Smith captain, and Crosscup, each scored two touchdowns, starring for their team. Craig scored the fifth touchdown and kicked the goal. Crosscup kicked three other goals from touchdowns. Howard, captain, and Codman played the best game for Standish.
The winning Smith team will play the St. Paul's School eleven at Concord, N. H., this afternoon. Other dormitory teams may be represented on this team if necessary to complete the full number.
The dormitory teams lined up yesterday as follows: Score--Smith 39, Standish 0. Touchdowns -- Crosscup (2), Freeman (2), Craig. Goals from touchdowns--Crosscup (3), Craig.
