Mr. William Goodwin Renwick '11, commander of the Eighth Regiment Machine Gun Company, will give a demonstration and lecture on the Benet Mercie automatic machine rifle, illustrated by moving pictures of his company in action, in the Living Room of the Union this evening at 8 o'clock.
Mr. Renwick will describe the machine gun and its operation, and will also show how it is used in modern warfare tactics, and explain its value and the great part it has played in all the campaigns of the present European war. The moving pictures will show how the mechanism of the standard machine gun works, and the manoeuvres of an automatic machine rifle company as carried on by the United States Army and the state militias. The meeting also aims to stimulate interest in the cause of preparedness in this country by explaining one kind of military work, and by showing how members of the University who are interested may further it by becoming affiliated with some branch of the organized militia in this state.
