The Faculty Committee on the Regulation of Athletic Sports has a rule that "no athletic contest shall take place on Soldiers Field until after three o'clock on Saturdays," except that football games may begin at two o'clock after November 1. The game with Pennsylvania State, the latter part of which was played in complete darkness, clearly pointed to the urgent need of an amendment to this rule whereby at least the last two games played in October may begin at 2 o'clock. Aside from the fact that players and spectators were at a decided disadvantage, there was danger in forcing thousands of persons to grope their way down dark stairways, over loose boards, and only partially constructed wooden stands. For another year safety, even aside from football considerations, calls for earlier games in late October.
