The Marquis and Marchioness of Aberdeen and Tenair, of the House of Cromar, Tarland, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, will speak in the Union this evening at 8 o'clock. In his address, the Marquis will include some personal descriptions and recollections of notable personages who have been well known visitors at the University in past years. There will also be some allusions to past historical events in which the United States and England were mutually concerned. The Marquis will end his speech with a brief discourse on national types of humor, including English, Scotch, Irish, and American.
The subject of Lady Aberdeen's speech has not been announced but it is known that it will be on a topic not already discussed since her arrival in the United States.
Lord and Lady Aberdeen have only recently arrived in this country. They spoke before a large audience in Tremont Temple on Wednesday night. They are planning to give a series of lectures in various parts of the country, to interest Americans in the cause of Ireland, and to raise money to aid in the betterment of social conditions in Ireland. Their tour will probably extend to the Pacific Coast, where they have been invited to the Panama-Pacific Exposition.
This is the first of the lectures and entertainments which the Union will provide for its members.
