Rowing at Columbia has reached the worst crisis in a number of years. Four oarsmen in the first boat have been obliged to give up crew work within the past week. For several days not enough men have reported to man a second eight, and Wednesday's practice had to be called off for the first crew.
The situation is no better with the freshmen, as less than 15 have been reporting daily for practice. It is officially rumored that unless more men appear for crew the race with Yale at New Haven on November 12 may have to be cancelled.
