A meeting to observe the one hundredth anniversary of the birth of Richard Henry Dana '37 will be held under the auspices of the Cambridge Historical Society in Sanders Theatre on Wednesday evening, October 20, at 8 o'clock. The Right Reverend William Lawrence will preside and the Honorable Joseph H. Choate '52 will read a paper on Dana as a citizen, lawyer, and writer on international law. Professor Bliss Perry will discuss Dana as a man of letters. Moorfield Story '66 will also speak.
In addition to the exercises in Sanders Theatre there will be an exhibition in the Treasure Room of the Widener Memorial Library of books, manuscripts, portraits, and other matter of historical interest relating to Dana's life. This exhibit will be open to the public from October 14 to October 21.
Richard Henry Dana was born in Cambridge, August 1, 1815, and died in Italy, January 6, 1882. He received an A.B. from Harvard College in 1837.
