FOOTBALL MEN HAD EASY WORK

Elevens Had Short Scrimmage With Emphasis on Smooth Execution.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

As a let-up from the stiff work of the past two days the University football team was given a very light practice yesterday afternoon. The preliminaries consisted of the usual talk in the Locker Building, a rather prolonged punting drill for the backs and ends, and some light charging practice for the lines-men. Captain Mahan did practically all the punting, Horween and Robinson being off the kickers' list with sprained ankles.

An easy scrimmage wound up the work of the day. Team A backs with Team B line opposed Team B backs with Team A line. There was no scoring, as the emphasis was laid on the smooth execution of the plays rather than on gaining ground. Coolidge, Horween, Parson, Thacher, and Watson again watched the work from the stands, while McKinlock and Enwright stayed away from the Field. Whitney and Weatherhead, however, have returned to the game and took part in the scrimmage.

The first line-up of the mixed elevens was as follows: REDS.  BLACKS. L. Curtis, l.e.  r.e., Weatherhead R. C. Curtis, l.t.  r.t., Gilman Cowon, l.g.  r.g., Burr Harris, c.  c., Taylor Dadmun, r.g.  l.g., Snow Caner, r.t.  l.t., Bigelow Harte, r.e.  l.e., Lyman Willeox, q.  q., Boles Whitney, l.h.b.  r.h.b., Nelson King, r.h.b.  l.h.b., Doherty Mahan, f.b.  f.b., Rollins
