Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
Winding up in a fierce scrimmage, yesterday's practice of the University football team proved to be the most thorough work-out of the week. The appearance of C. E. Brickley '15, captain of last year's championship eleven, and the excellent showing made by the second team squad were the features of the practice.
After a short talk in the Locker Building, the University men went directly to the field. Brickley, who is on a short leave of absence from his coaching duties at Johns Hopkins University, took practically all of the backfield men and gave them a half-hour drill in drop-kicking, paying particular attention to the work of W. Whitney '16. Brickley himself kicked several perfect goals from the 45-yard line. C. Blagden '02, and R. T. P. Storer '14, gave the tackles a short drill in dummy line scrimmage, and M. J. Logan '15 coached the squad of quarterbacks on their defensive duties, laying special emphasis on the running back of kicks.
Substitutes Showed up Strongly.
At the finish of the preliminary work, Captain Mahan, King, Cowen, and Bigelow took seats in the Stadium and watched the scrimmage, while a composite eleven of Teams A and B lined up against Team B of the seconds. After the past several days' work of the second team, the playing of its substitutes was a revelation, for they started out with a savage attack and in less than five minutes had scored a safety against their opponents, Harris at the University centre, making a poor pass that proved fatal. Soon after, however, Willcox intercepted a long pass of Blair's and ran 70 yards for a touchdown, a feat equalled after a few more plays by Lyman, who snatched up a second team fumble and raced down a clear field for a score. These two touchdown's, together with another which followed when Soucy gathered in a pretty forward pass, would seem to indicate that the University men had much the better of the argument, but an analysis of the play showed that little ground was gained through the black team on straight rushing. Not the least part of the second substitutes good work was due to the excellent defense provided by McEl- wain's long punts, who also distinguished himself on one particular occasion by running 30 yards after a bad pass from his centre.
Seconds Scored Again.
About ten minutes before the end of the hour's scrimmage, Coach Guild sent in Team A of the seconds, an aggregation which rushed the ball down the field for three straight first downs before the regular line held. After several exchanges in the possession of the ball, the teams lined up on the University 45-yard line, and from there H. W. Minot '17, a second team back, ran through the right wing of the regular line for a touchdown. A University score in the corner of the field, followed by a frustrated attempt to kick out for position, finished the scoring and the practice.
The mishap of the afternoon was a minor injury to Gilman's ankle, but it is improbable that this will keep him out of the play for more than a day or two. D. C. Watson '16 is still taking a rest, and in his absence yesterday, Willcox, Boles, Murray and Doherty each had a turn at running the team.
At the start of the scrimmage, the teams lined up as follows:
