FORTY-TWO ANSWERED CALL OF CAPTAIN NASH

Forty-two candidates for the University baseball team reported to Captain Nash on Soldiers Field yesterday for the first practice of the fall season. The men worked out under the direction of Captain Nash who will take charge of practice until a coach is secured, which will probably be next week.

The squad was divided into two teams which participated in a 7-innings contest. Team B defeating Team A 4 to 3. Numerous substitutions were made, practically everyone getting into the game. The two teams lined up at the start as follows:

Team A.--Cartmell, 3b.; Abbot, 2b.; Coolidge, c.f.; Ashley, l.f.; Percy, r.f.; O'Day, s.s.; West, 1b.; Safford, c.; Delano, p.

Team B.--Ames, l.f.; Stuart, 2b.; Knowles, c.f.; Emmons, r.f.; Buell, s.s.; Nichols, 3b.; Hickey, c.; King 1b.; Rees, p.

The members of the squad will be organized as the Harvard "Rovers" this fall and play a series of about twelve games with local semi-professional teams. While the "Rovers" will be made up of players on the University squad, it will not be a University team and does not aim to represent the University.
