HARVARD LENDS MEDICAL AID

"UNIVERSITY UNIT" TO WORK AT AMERICAN HOSPITAL IN PARIS.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University Medical School has been invited, along with the medical schools of several other colleges, to send a "unit" to the American hospital in Paris to assist in caring for the wounded in the war. A fund of $10,000 for the equipment and maintenance of this "unit", which will be known as the "Harvard University Unit" is being raised.

The plan is that of President Lowell and Dean Bradford of the Medical School. It was suggested to them by Dr. Crile of Cleveland, Ohio, who has already taken over a "unit" from the Lakeside Hospital of Cleveland with $10,000 raised by subscription.

Guy Lowell '92, who is assistant professor of surgery at the Medical School is in charge of the make-up of the "unit" but as yet no selection or definite call for volunteers has been made.

The work of the American Hospital at Paris has been of immense value during the present war and the plan of having "units" from the leading medical school of America in charge of one of its divisions will afford an excellent opportunity for Americans to render material aid. The University of Chicago, the University of Pennsylvania and Johns Hopkins will also send "units."
