The University hockey team easily defeated Princeton at the Arena last Saturday night by the score of 5 to 1, in a fairly slow game, made conspicuous by the excellent work of Phillips and Wylde. For the first few minutes of play Phillips did not get warmed up, but when he finally struck his accustomed stride he was in part responsible for four of the five scores made by the University. Princeton tried an experiment by shifting Peacock to centre and at first this seemed to strengthen the team, but Cowan, who had gone to point, lacked Peacock's ability at defensive play and his speed was missed in the line.
Princeton Makes First Score.
Peacock scored the first goal of the game in 2 minutes, 19 seconds on a forced drive through the University defense. For the next five minutes neither side showed any team-work and the puck surged back and forth on individual rushes. A minute and a half later Phillips scored the second goal for the University on an individual rush. Townsend scored the third goal on a neat pass from Phillips who had forced the puck by the Tiger defense. A minute later Wanamaker, who had gone in for Baldwin scored the last goal of the first period.

The game was well-played and hard-fought and while it decisively spoiled Princeton's chances for the 1915 championship, it also showed that the University will have to make marked improvement in order to defeat the strong Yale seven next Saturday.
