EMINENT GRADUATE TO SPEAK

Curtis Guild '81 Will Lecture on "The Needed Reorganization of Our Department of State."

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Curtis Guild '81 will speak on "The Needed Reorganization of our Department of State," under the auspices of the Political Science Club in Emerson A this afternoon at 4.30 o'clock. This will not be a partizan speech, but a presentation of a plan for running the State Department efficiently under any administration. It will consider, among other things, putting the government employees on a basis of permanent employment.

Mr. Guild has held many important offices since graduation. He served as inspector general in the Spanish-American War. He was lieutenant-governor of Massachusetts from 1902 to 1905, governor from 1906 to 1909, was appointed special ambassador to Mexico in 1910, and acted as ambassador to Russia from 1911 to 1913.

Members of the University are invited to this afternoon's lecture.
