MANY CHANGES MARK YALE'S YEAR

At the beginning of the fall crew season at Yale the announcement was made that C. M. Snowden, who had been re-elected captain for the year 1913-1914, was ineligible, and T. B. Denegre 1915 had been chosen to succeed him.

Practice for the University Crew started on September 17, when two full crews, reported. For the first few weeks the work was light, and consisted mainly of long paddles to enable the men to get into condition. With the Princeton race in view, the first crew soon started on time trials and races with the second crew. The Freshman eight of last year furnished the crew with promising material and three Sophomores were on the crew which raced Princeton. The University crew completed its fall work with the race against Princeton on October 25. The distance was one and seven-eights miles, and the Princeton crew won by about two lengths. W. A. Harriman 1913, and D. G. Acheson 1915, coached the crew. The University boat rowed as follows: bow, Low; 2, Rogers; 3, Denegre, captain; 4, Von der Ropp; 5, Woodruff; 6, Fitzpatrick; 7, Titus; stroke, Crocker; coxswain, Moore.

The Freshman and Club crews started work on October 5. C. N. Snowden 1914S, directed the Freshmen eight crews being out. All the Freshmen rowed on stationary seats in barges. Fall rowing ended with the regatta in which the Freshman and Club crews contested.

Nickalls Chosen Coach.

On December 15, the following coaches were announced for the spring rowing: Richard Armstrong '95S., Graduate Advisory Coach; Guy Nickalls, University Crew Coach, and C. F. Gianinni, Freshman Crew Coach. W. J. Lippincott 1914 and D. G. Acheson 1915 were later announced as assistant coaches.

In the spring regatta on May 8 the Junior class crew captained by E. B. Harrison 1915, qualified to race the Harvard championship Sophomore crew and defeated it on May 16 by three lengths on a one and seven-eights miles course.

The Yale Second University crew placed second in the Junior eight-oared race and fourth in the Senior at the Henley course on May 16. At the triangular regatta at Ithaca on May 23 the Yale crew finished third, with Cornell first and Princeton second.

Corel Meyer 1916S, stroke, was recently elected captain of the Yale Freshman Crew.
