NORTHFIELD CONFERENCE PLANS

Harvard Delegation to Attend Annual Convention in Force.

The annual Northfield Conference for men of Eastern Colleges will be held this year from June 19 to 28, inclusive. A large delegation will represent Harvard at the convention, leaving Boston on a special train on Friday, June 19, and arriving in Northfield in the evening in time for the opening exercises of the Convention. The expenses are as follows: registration fee, $5; round trip ticket from Boston, about $4; room and board, $13, or $2.10 per day for part of the time. There is a direct route from New London to Northfield so that it would be possible for men to attend the boat races.

The purpose of the Northfield Conference is to provide a reasonable, working Christianity for college men by practical addresses on religious, social and moral problems, by delegation and group meetings, and by personal talks with men of wide experience. The exercises of the morning will have this end in view, and the afternoons will be crowded with baseball, tennis, track contests, cross-country walks, boating and swimming. The great advantage of the Conference is the fellowship which results from the mixing of men from different colleges who have a common interest.

Dr. John R. Mott will preside over the Conference. Among the speakers will be Henry Sloane Coffin, of New York; Charles W. Gilkey '02, of Chicago; Robert E. Speer, of New York; T. R. Glover, of Oxford University; and Raymond C. Robbins, of Chicago. Meetings for the purpose of hearing these and other men will be held twice daily, and smaller groups will meet from time to time to discuss topics connected with the purpose of the Convention. Men wishing to attend should sign up with some one of the following committee: N. L. Tibbetts '15, chairman; H. A. Larrabee '16, treasurer; G. F. Plimpton '14, L. O. Wright '14, N. L. Torrey '15, P. Bradley '16, A. J. R. Helmus '16, R. M. Cook '17, L. A. Morgan '17.
