Leland Stanford defeated the University tennis team by 2 matches to 1 yesterday in the last contest of the year. It was played at the courts of the Longwood Tennis Club. R. N. Williams, 2nd, '16, who has been Harvard's first man all along, could not compete because of an examination.
R. L. Murray, of Leland Stanford, defeated E. H. Whitney '14 in three fast sets. H. L. Hann, of Leland Stanford, defeated W. M. Washburn '15 in two sets. The second was closely-contested and went to Hann by an 8 to 6 score.
W. M. Washburn '15 and J. J. Armstrong '14 won their match in the doubles from R. L. Murray and H. L. Hann without much difficulty.
