After playing three tie matches, during the present season, the University golf team won its first victory on Saturday afternoon from the Cornell golf team at the Essex Country Club, Manchester, by the score of 4 to 2. The feature of the match was the medal scoring of C. T. Lansing, of Cornell, who made a 78, going out in 41 and coming in with 37. For Harvard, F. Sargent '14 starred, getting a 79. The individual matches were as follows: Captain E. P. Allis '15 defeated Captain W. A. Matthews (C.), 4-3; F. Sargent '14 defeated E. B. Prindle (C.), 3-2; C. T. Lansing (C.) defeated J. G. Heyburn '16, 5-3; J. D. Newman (C.) defeated C. S. Weeks '14, 1 up, 19 holes; S. P. Griffitts '15 defeated W. J. Sindley (C.), 5-4; P. W. Simons '16 defeated D. D. Cook (C.), 3-1.
