CHAMPION CREWS ON CHARLES

HARVARD AND YALE OARSMEN WILL CLASH IN BASIN ON SATURDAY.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The annual race between the champion class crews of Harvard and Yale will be held in the Basin on Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Last spring the race was also held here, Yale winning by six lengths. The course extends from Cottage Farm Bridge to the Union Boat Club, a distance of 1 and 7-8 miles. This year's race will be between Harvard 1916 and Yale 1915, while the preceeding one was between two 1915 eights. It is expected that the visiting oarsmen will arrive on Friday afternoon, being the guests of the University crew management during their stay.

Substitutes In Boat A.

In order to keep University Crew B intact for the race at Philadelphia on Saturday, substitutes were put in boat A instead of taking men from the second boat to fill the vacancies left by the absence of Captain Reynolds and C. E. Schall '16. L. Curtis '14, who has been rowing in the first, went back to 7 in B. The second eight had a short race with Union Boat Club up stream for half a mile, winning by about 1-2 a length. Following is the order in which the two crews rowed:

University A--Stroke, Chanler; 7, Soucy; 6, Harwood; 5, J. W. Middendorf; 4, Morgan; 3, Wilkinson; 2, Talcott; bow, Herrick; cox., Sargent.

University B--Stroke, Lund; 7, Curtis; 6, Parson; 5, Meyer; 4, H. S. Middendorf; 3, Murray; 2, Busk; bow, Saltonstall; cox., Kreger.
