SQUAD ROUNDING INTO FORM

Much Improvement in Baseball During Week.--Training Table Starts at Varsity Club Today.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University baseball squad has advanced rapidly in the last week, aided by favorable weather and daily practice games. Each succeeding day Coach Sexton has gone farther into the details and fine points of the game. On Saturday when two picked teams played a fast 3 to 3 tie game of nine innings, good fielding and batting were the features of the contest. If the weather conditions remain favorable, a well developed nine should face Colgate on Thursday.

Following were the line-ups Saturday: Captain Wingate's team -- r.f., Gannett; s.s., Wingate; 2b., S. P. Clark; 1b., Ayres; l.f., Hardwick; c.f., C. S. Clark, C. W. Curtis; 3b., Phillips; p., Frye, MacDonald; c., Osborne, West. Coach Sexton's team--l.f., Devereux; c.f., Coolidge; 1b., Nash; 2b., Milholland; r.f., Mahan; 3b., Fripp; s.s., Cartmell, Mason; p., Whitney, Boyle; c., Waterman, R. C. Curtis.

Wingate '14.

After a week's hard practice, the first cut has been made in the 1917 baseball squad by Coach Reeves. The 35 following men, 10 of whom are battery candidates, are retained: Abbot, Ames, Appleton, Ashley, Baldwin, Barker, Beal, Bothfield, Bradley, Buell, Caley, Callahan, Clarke, Coolidge, Cummings, Eglee, Ellsworth, Emmons, Garritt, Gibb, Harte, Hickey, Hoffman, Holly, Kavanaugh, Kenefick, N. W. Kenney, W. W. Kenney, Lombard, Rice, Reed, Robinson, Stanton, Thomas, Willcox.

Now that the squad has been decreased, much more effective work can be done. Daily practice games will be held, and every effort made to develop a strong nine for the first game Saturday.
