The Freshman baseball nine will play its first game of the year this afternoon, meeting Brookline High School on Soldiers Field at 4 o'clock.

Although the battery men have been at work since shortly after mid-years, the fielding candidates reported only two weeks ago. Nevertheless, in this short time, a well-rounded team has been developed. During the last week, daily practice games have been held with the University second team. Yesterday afternoon a final practice game was held, the 1917 men losing by a 6 to 1 score in nine innings.

The 1917 nine will line up as follows: s.s., Reed; l.f., Emmons; 2b., Abbot; c., Harte; 1b., Clark; c.f., Hoffman; r.f., Gibb; 3b., Ames; p., Garritt, Cummings or Ashley.
