PREPARING FOR RIVER WORK

Eight University Crews and Nine Freshman Eights Report Daily. -- Relay Races a New Feature.

Rapid progress has been made in the last few weeks in the development of both the University and Freshman crews. Six University crews and three 1917 eights are now working daily in the tank.

The practice consists of ten minutes steady rowing and then a brisk half-mile run. A new feature has been added to the work in the form of a relay race. The first and second University crews raced against each other yesterday, each man running about 700 yards.

There are at present eight University crews and nine Freshman eights, making a total of almost 140 men working daily in the tank or on the machines.

As a result of the work in the tank, several changes have been made in the personnel of the University and Freshman crews. The first four University crews are as follows:

Crew A--Stroke, Chanler; 7, Schall; 6, H. S. Middendorf; 5, J. W. Middendorf; 4, Harwood; 3, Reynolds; 2, Gardiner; bow, Murray.

Crew B--Stroke, Lund; 7, Soucy; 6, Parson; 5, Curtis; 4, Morgan; 3, Lyman; 2, Talcott; bow, Herrick.

Crew C--Stroke, Chichester; 7, Wilkinson; 6, E. Reynolds; 5, Meyer; 4, Kingsbury; 3, Carver; 2, Busk; bow, Storrow.

Crew D--Stroke, Buffum; 7, Emerson; 6, Amory; 5, Osborne; 4, Graham; 3, Fisher; 2, Boyer; bow, Hoyt.

The first two 1917 crews are as follows:

Crew A--Stroke, Chadwick; 7, Higginson; 6, Stebbins; 5, Ely; 4, R. R. Brown; 3, H. Cabot; 2, Wylde; bow, Darling.
