PROF. WENDELL OPERATED UPON

Will be Unable to Meet His Classes for an Indefinite Period.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Professor Barrett Wendell underwent a serious operation for mastoid yesterday morning, and is now in a critical condition at the McDowell Hospital, Boston. He had been suffering from a growth in one ear, and a portion of the bowl had to be removed, causing him much pain.

It was reported at the hospital last night that he was resting comfortably, but no statement could be made as to how long the operation would keep him confined. He will be unable to meet his classes, English 41, 33 and 20, for several weeks at least.
