NORTON WINS ARCHITECTS PRIZE

Semi-Annual Competition, This Time on Country Estate, is Decided.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The drawings submitted in the semi-annual trophy competition held by the School of Landscape Architecture were judged yesterday afternoon by Mr. Charles A. Platt, of New York. There were nineteen entries in the competition, the subject of which was the design of a country estate of about five acres, containing a formal garden. Particular interest is attached to the judgment, because Mr. Platt is one of the foremost designers of country houses and gardens in this country.

First place was awarded to Harvard Norton 1G.S., of Boston, who will have his name inscribed on the trophy and will have custody of it until the next competition. Second and third places were awarded to Donald Bond Johnston 2G.S., of Richmond, Ind., and Raymond Hill Wilcox 2G.S., of Grand Rapids, Mich.

There will be an informal exhibition of the competition drawings in the School of Landscape Architecture Library, Robinson Hall, from February 24 to 27, between 2 and 5 o'clock, which will be open to all members of the University and their friends.
