8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
All candidates for the field events of the University and Freshman track teams are to report to Coach Powers in the baseball cage some time this week. Competitions will be held throughout the winter in the following events: High-jump, broad-jump, pole-vault and shot-put; the competitions for the high-jump and pole-vault on Tuesdays, and for the other two events on Thursdays. If it is possible to have a platform built for hammer-throwing, a competition will also be held in that event. The competitions will be marked on a percentage basis, relative to the number of men in each event. The contestants who have obtained the three highest averages will be awarded suitable prizes at the end of the winter season.
Opportunities will be afforded candidates to enter in a number of indoor track meets throughout the winter, culminating in the I. C. A. A. A. A. indoor relay championships to be held at Madison Square Garden in New York City on March 6. In this meet contests in the high-jump, pole-vault, and shot-put will be scored in the same manner as in cross-country running.
This will give an opportunity for in-experienced men to get training in actual competition.
Voluntary work for the relay men will begin as soon as the board track is erected.
