POET LECTURES ON "ART OF ASIA"

Mr. Binyon to Talk at 8. -- Professor Pope on Spanish Painting at 3.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Mr. Laurence Binyon, of the British Museum, well known as a poet, lecturer and writer on the fine arts, will give a lecture on "The Art of Asia" at the Fogg Art Museum, this evening at 8 o'clock. The lecture will be open to the public.

Masterpieces on Exhibition.

Through the kindness of an anonymous lender, an important painting by the great Spanish master, Velazquez, is to be on exhibition at the Fogg Art Museum today. Velazquez is recognized as almost the greatest master of painting, and this work, only recently discovered in a private collection in England, is an exceptionally fine example of his earlier style. It is a variation of the well-known painting of the "Geographer" in the museum at Rouen.

Professor Pope will give a brief talk on this painting by Welazquez at 3 o'clock. The picture will probably be on exhibition for only one day. It is hoped that similar loans of important masterpieces may be exhibited at the Fogg Museum from time to time during the winter
