The first practices of the season for both the University and Freshman hockey squads were held yesterday afternoon.

Eighty candidates for the University team, as contrasted with 44 at the same time last year, reported to Coach Winsor and Captain Claflin at the Hemenway Gymnasium. A short drill in goal shooting on the concrete floors of the hand-ball courts was followed by a two-mile jog across country.

The 60 Freshmen who reported behind Standish Hall for the first work-out of the 1918 squad were dismissed after a two-mile run had been taken. No Freshman practice will be held today.
