The New England Association of Colleges and Preparatory Schools are now holding their twenty-ninth annual meeting at Boston University. The session convened yesterday afternoon. Among the speakers yesterday were: President Eliot, who spoke on "The Place of Culture"; Professor William Ernest Hocking, of the University, who spoke on "The Place of Specific Preparation"; and Professor Edward L. Thorndike, of the Teachers College at Columbia University, who spoke on "The Place of Disciplinary Training.

This morning the general topic for discussion will be "What is the College for?" The speakers will be: Principal Alfred E. Stearns of Phillips Academy, Andover; President Alexander Meiklejohn of Amherst College, and Commissioner of Education John H. Fenley of New York State.
